Internet Games: A Learning Opportunity or a Wastage of Time?

Every parent hopes to get a computer and Internet service so that his or her kid would spend some time in learning educational pursuits. Instead many of youngsters spend their quality time in playing different games in front of their computer. Now, the question arises, getting connecting to the computer games is a boon or it is a bane?

Nowadays, kids may play many kinds of online games that may incite different sensibilities and infuse different feelings into them. So, how can a parent decide if buying a computer is good for his kid? In this article, we’ll discuss the role of internet games in shaping up the career of a child.

According to the recent research conducted by the University of Toronto, kids who play online games regularly have better visual acuity and reaction time than kids who do not play games on computer. Online games help kids to identify things in a faster way. Kids who play online games are expected to acquire better driving or soccer playing skills.

Importantly, different online game has a different culture of playing, which is not too easy to learn. A player needs to acquire a certain set of attitudes to learn the techniques to play fair. In fact, each game has its own goals, limitations, and outcomes that make it quite different from the other one. One of the interesting features of online games is social networking. These games encourage gamers to make visual relationships with their contenders. A person playing in California can be friendly with his opponent who is sitting in Netherlands; hence, these games are drawing people nearer.

On the contrary, everyday we come across the stories stating the negative aspects of the online games. The addiction of games is said to be deadly causing ill-feelings among gamers.

Whatever the case may be, if played carefully and under parent supervision, online games could provide great entertainment to all!
